Cowher's not coaching yet

With all of the rumors that Cowher would be going to Cleveland next year no longer worthwhile because Cleveland is the opposite of sucking right now, it should be of no surprise Atlanta wants him. Guess he's enjoying his CBS analyst gig too much though because he told them no thanks.

Another summer movie

So the trailer for the next Batman movie is also out and it looks like Heath Ledger did an awesomely scary job as The Joker. I got the chills just from watching him. 10 Things I Hate About You anyone?

Oh John

It's been soooooo long since I've seen John Krasinki, that I was thrilled to see the trailer for his new movie is up. Doesn't hurt that George Clooney is in it either.

12.14.2007

Mamma Mia!

I didn't know they were making the show into a movie. With a lot of big names too. Can Meryl Streep sing?

12.13.2007

Merry Christmas

Want to see my parents dressed as elves dancing? You know you do. Thanks Annie!

12.12.2007

Your tax dollars hard at work

Apparently the White House has produced this cute/unintentionally hilarious video about Barney, the First Dog. Glad to see the President Bush managed to cram some time into his busy schedule for really bad acting with dogs.

10.19.2007

And People Make Fun of Me

I may make Pepper wear bandannas and occasionally costumes, but I've never done this . . .

10.05.2007

I heart Google

I was just doing a search and look what Google thought I was searching for . . .

9.26.2007

Animated gifs are on fire

You know what's more awesome than one animated fire gif? A whole page of them!

Once again!

I think someone cnn.com must have a vendetta against the Pittsburgh area. Once again, a shocking story is one of the site's headlines . . .

9.25.2007

In the news again!

Once again I turned to CNN.com for my morning news and see a headline from WTAE, one of Pittsburgh's stations. Not only does the headline involve ninjas, it also took place in Richland, a town ~20 minutes from Somerset and where everyone in Somerset has to go to see a movie since The Palace shut down a couple of years ago (but that's a whole other story). Anyway, turns out that WTAE also posts their videos on YouTube if you want to see footage of female ninjas robbing a gas station. Chances are Annie knows them since she knows everyone in Somerset County.

9.21.2007

The Backstreet Boys are still making videos

Who knew? Although, they are missing my favorite, Kevin.

9.14.2007

Monkey love

No, really, monkey love. How cute is this picture?!?!

9.13.2007

Female Steelers Fans

Turns out that the Steelers have the most female fans in their market. There are a decent amount of girls at the Steelers bar on Sunday, but they're not really any competition for us anyway . . .

9.11.2007

Irony

I was in a meeting this afternoon and a lot of us had a hard time calling in because of the way the call-in number was laid out. It's ironic because a UX/HCI person sent out the invite . . .

9.06.2007

Really cool ad

Checkout this cool ad from Sony. It's really impressive because it's not computer generated. Afterwards, be sure to watch the video of how they made the ad.

9.05.2007

I know what kind of underwear John wears

I was watching the lastest blooper reel from season 3 of The Office and in one scene, John Krasinksi has his pants down! Looks like boxer briefs to me . . .

8.29.2007

Pittsburgh should be proud

I was just checking out CNN.com to make sure I hadn't missed anything too important in the last hour when I noticed 2 of the headlines. Both are from WTAE, the ABC station in Pittsburgh. Now, maybe it's because I recognize the station, but I feel like they have a lot of stories on CNN.com or at least more so than a station in Phoenix or Seattle. Still today is an all-time high/low depending on how you look at it. In case you were curious, here is the stabbing story and the fetus story.

The best Steelers of all time

With my new Steelers shirt arriving at my doorstep this afternoon and the first game only a week and a half away, celebrate by checking out this ranking of the best Steelers ever. Hinesy made the list, but Big Ben hasn't been around enough yet to merit a place.

8.24.2007

New Hoff

I missed the finale of America's Got Talent, but fortunately The Hoff's performance has made it onto the Internet.

8.23.2007

Best picture EVER

Happy Birthday to me!

Well, I'm officially in the 2nd half of my 20's :-( Pepper and I stayed up until midnight last night to squeeze out every last second of being 25 (Ok, Pepper actually slept, but she did wake up at 12 to try to makeout with me). When I signed on at midnight, facebook was the first to wish me Happy Birthday. Thanks for all of the other birthday wishes!

8.17.2007

Raleigh in the news again!

So you know how all of these semi-washed up bands and musicians come through Raleigh for summer concert series? What if one of them was an ass who got arrested?

8.16.2007

Hahahahaha

Pepper's new accessory

You know Annie is going to get this for Lewie.

8.13.2007

2nd Future Husband

So my love for John Krasinski has been well documented and while he will always have the biggest place in my heart, I do have to admit I'm also crushing on someone else - Micheal Cera.

The boy is so good at being awkward, that I want to hug him. Unfortunately, he's also only 19 :-/

So looking forward to SuperBad!!!

Last 1/3 of 2007 resolution

Well, my resolution for 2007 of going on as many dates as possible was pretty successful. I think I've gone out with ~15 different guys since the start of the year. Most gave me a call afterwards, a few were lucky enough to have me answer the phone. Unfortunately, I'm still single again. However, I now am a much more experienced dater, so mission accomplished, yay!

I was just talking to Kaitie and have decided what I can focus on for the remainder of 2007 - getting the guts to talk to and meet guys without the help of online and/or speed dating. I realize that this is a little backwards, but goodness knows I am nowhere near normal when it comes to men. (High school boyfriends as Exhibit A)

So now I've ordered myself a well-reviewed self help book on the subject and Kaitie is willing to work the bar scenes with me. Our goal is to have male dates to the annual TriDelta Holiday party. Wish us luck!

8.10.2007

I know some celebrities

Look who was on the cover of the Post Gazette's Sports page. What a fantastic picture of all of them. Apparently my dad was the only one without a poncho and so had to stand underneath the roof of the stadium.

8.09.2007

Why is he all gold?

The Steelers now have a mascot, Steely McBeam, and he's kind of freaky looking. Of course, I guess team mascots aren't supposed to be normal.

8.08.2007

I heart The Onion

While I used to religiously read it every Tuesday in college, somehow The Onion has fallen out of my normal surfing schedule. It needs to be put back in though after finding this gem.

PS, the image is actually from another hilarious article.

Even my computer is hot

Weatherbug is not very happy right now.

This is why Pepper is enough for me

A lady in Moscow has 130 cats in her apartment. How does she keep her apartment so clean?!?!?! How is she not knocked over by them all?!?!?!

Let the countdown begin

Only a year till the Summer Olympics! Yay. Good news, NBC is streaming a gazillion hours of video, so I won't be doing any work for 2 weeks next summer.

8.07.2007

These are perfect

I hate going to the pool because I hate putting on bathing suits, but now I find these hot new "wholesome" suits. Just think of the tan lines you'd get with these.

8.02.2007

Whew, it's OK

Although I'm in the middle of my self-imposed "man fast" (I stole it from Brothers & Sisters, live with it), I was quite relieved to see that a friend has a crush on me via Gmail. Man, the wonders of modern technology that they can setup the advertising to specifically target me!

There are so many things wrong with this video

#1 Why was a loaded gun just sitting around?
#2 Why is this woman not more concerned about her fiance?
#3 Will someone please give that dog some food!

7.31.2007

Another fond childhood memory ruined.

Sometimes making childhood cartoons into movies can be good (see Transformers), but unfortunately, most of the time it's bad (see Garfield 1 &2). After viewing this trailer, it looks like Alvin & the Chipmunks will go in the later category. On a side note, Jason Lee is being totally underutilized by Hollywood between this and the new Underdog movie. Remember Dogma? *sigh*

7.27.2007

You may think things are bad now

This article discusses the worst sports year for each city. Check out Pgh's -
Pittsburgh: 1985
Usually if all else fails at the conflux of the Three Rivers the Steelers are there to bail everyone else out. Not this year- in the midst of the Frank Pollard-Walter Abercrombie-Mark Malone era, the black-and-yellow went 7-9, their first losing season since 1971. Rookie Mario Lemieux and the Penguins finished with the second-worst record in the NHL at 24-51-5, an improvement over the previous year, when they went a ghoulish 16-58-6. The Pirates were the worst of the three, losing 104 games, the most in the major leagues. As if that wasn't enough, baseball's drug scandal broke hardest in Pittsburgh, where the famed trials of the men who supplied the game's stars with adult candy took place that year.

7.26.2007

The Triangle on CNN again!

Once again, the Triangle has made it to one of CNN.com's top headlines. Too bad it was for this.

7.19.2007

Yay Troy!

I really hope Troy Polamalu sticks around. He's a great player and a nice guy.

Happy Belated Birthday to The Hoff!

Tuesday was The Hoff's 55th birthday. Yay! For some reason they didn't mention it on America's Got Talent that night. In celebration of The Hoff's many achievements, enjoy the top ten.

7.17.2007

Pictures from Spain

I finally got around to captioning all of my pictures. There are 2 sets, the serious photos (500+) and then the crazy things I saw. Enjoy!

Get back to practice

Checkout this commercial Big Ben did. Is it me or does he sound southern?

7.16.2007

Oh me! me!

What John Krasinksi is looking for in a girl.

7.13.2007

That's how he is so awesome

Matt just sent me this advertisement for Chuck Norris Action Jeans. So awesome!

Chuck Norris doesn't read books. He stares them down until he gets the information he wants.

7.12.2007

What in the world?

So freaky

So yesterday, I went to go see a matinée of Transformers by myself (I heart going to movies by myself in the middle of the day for some reason) and one of the trailers was for the new J.J. Abrams movie. Totally freaked me out! Can't wait till it comes out. Apparently there's an entire viral campaign going on too.

I'm back

After ~2 weeks, I have returned from Spain. I had a great time, although it was tiring because we saw a lot in a small amount of time. I also went crazy at H&M and Zara, so I have plenty of new shoes and outfits for the rest of the summer. I also found that I sangria I make tastes like the Spanish version, so I got it right! Yay! Now time to catch up on all of the stuff I missed. Pictures will be coming soon, although thanks to the new camera, there are 500+ of them . . .

6.27.2007

Pearl's back!

Another Will Ferrell/Pearl movie. Sadly, this will be her last.
Good Cop, Baby Cop

6.26.2007

Just another Somerset County night

People often ask me what it was like growing up in Somerset. This video comes extremely close, although it was Western PA instead of India and every drove John Deere tractors.

6.25.2007

Man, he has long legs

I love that my FH has a movie coming out next week because he's everywhere right now. I may have to steal Samir's copy of GQ and hang these pictures over my bed. Although, John's leg's looks freakishly long . . .

It's really going to happen

For years George Lucas and Steven Spielberg have been teasing me about making another Indiana Jones movie. Kind of brings a tear to my eye to see Harrison Ford back in character. Next May can't come soon enough!

6.22.2007

New camera!

I got my fancy new camera in the mail yesterday and have since been constantly taking pictures of Pepper. How cute!

6.21.2007

4real, can you please pass the salt?

I realize that people come up with some pretty ridiculous names, but this has to take the cake. I wish they had a picture of the soon-to-be parents because you know they're hippies.

6.20.2007

I love the Interweb

I'm so glad I get to watch things like this that make me laugh harder than half of the shows on tv (not you, The Office, you're still #1 in my book).

David Blaine Street Magic 2

6.19.2007

The Pirates finally get something right

So the Pirates (as in Pgh's baseball team that hasn't been good since I was in elementary school) put together this remake of the last scene from The Sopranos. Using their mascots! The Pierogies are the bomb people, the highlight of every game. That and the smooch camera (where they make you kiss if you're on the jumbotron).

6.18.2007

Something to do in NYC when I'm there.

Good thing I'm going up to NYC for Eleni & Mike's wedding. In case it gets too hot, I can just take my shirt off.

6.15.2007

Hinesy talks about the new coach

Hines Ward discusses the team warming up to their new coach. At least something is finally looking good for them.

6.13.2007

I love weird stuff

Back in college, I always enjoyed odd things like Mr. T vs and Rate My Kitten. Imagine my delight when I found something that was equally as odd - Cat Town!

Yikes!

Mary Jo said that the time she met Jeff Reed at training camp, he was really slimy. Based on these pictures, I'd believe it. I just wish I knew which bar he was at in Pgh.

6.11.2007

Gotta love the South

Kaitie and I saw some interesting things while we were walking Race for the Cure Saturday morning, but the craziest was this gas station sign. Only in the South where tobacco is king could a gas station be called "Smoker Friendly" . . .

6.06.2007

Checking in with Somerset

Once again, I had a few minutes to kill and decided to check out the Daily American's website to see what's going down back home. Turns out the site has been slightly remodeled and now has scrolling text, how very 1998.

However in an odd juxtaposition, all of the articles have Digg buttons. They also have a fancy new blog. And embedded video. Oh-la-la.

After stalking the site (what I do best), it says that Nicole Santillo is the Online Web Editor. As you can see from the graphic on the left, web design does not appear to be her strong point. Good to know that if I ever have to move back in with my parents, the competition is not that strong.

In Somerset news, some lady ran her car into the front of the bank on Main St (the one by the bowling alley and Coldwell Banker for my fellow Somersetonians). Also, St. Paul's in Brothersvalley is having a rummage sale. Digg that bitches.

P.S. I have been making very snarky comments about Somerset recently. What's up with that?

Thundercats!

Looks like following in The Transformers footsteps, Hollywood is turning Thundercats into a movie. I have a vague recollection from my youth of making She-Ra and Lion-o go steady. The article also mentions that Hollywood is making a live action version of He-Man too . . .

6.05.2007

A harsh reality

You know how fast food always looks soooooo good in the ads on tv (except for those KFC bowls, those looks gross). Check out this site that compares what the food really looks like to what it looks like in ads.

6.04.2007

I love you, but . . .

Seriously John Krasinski? A man cardigan?

*Sigh* Once we're married, I'm going to have to teach you how to dress for the MTV awards shows.

6.01.2007

5.31.2007

Why you should always hire a wedding planner

OK, so I'm still stalking the same poor couple's wedding pictures (see below post). I was looking at their cake and while it is definitely *different* I did notice one thing. What is that random purple fake fountain doing on the table? It serves no purpose other than to take up space on an already way too busy table.

It's like they were thinking, you know, chocolate fountains are really in right now for weddings, but we can't afford one, so let's just put this plastic thing we found at Super Walmart (the only store in Somerset) on the table instead. No one will notice and it'll go great with the conveyor belt leading our bridesmaids and groomsmen up the cake.

Also the purple flower petals spread all over the table do NOT match the flowers on the cake.

I know, I'm such a hater.

Fun with Photoshop

So I was just stalking The Daily American's wedding/engagement announcements to see who got married this week from Somerset and noticed a link to the website of the local premier highly overpriced photographer (he will of course be taking pictures at my wedding someday, assuming he's still alive for that).

I was checking out his samples and noticed something. They aren't as good as I remember from growing up. Even worse, he created this odd mash-up of the bride and groom looking like gods presiding over the ceremony. Kind of hilarious in the entire I'm from a small rural hick town kind of way.

If only I could meet a man like this

This is possibly one of the best "To Catch a Predator" clips ever. Watch it the whole way till the end for one of the best parts.

5.29.2007

So wrong

I've never really had strong feeling about Michael Vick. He's always seemed to on the edge of QB greatness, but after finding out that he is a biggie in the world of dog fighting, I don't like him. I might like him even less than Tom Brady and that's saying a lot.

5.24.2007

Fun at ancestry.com

Rather than work on clearing out my Tivo, I've spent the night goofing off at ancestry.com. I've learned a couple of things.
- Despite having great grandparents both named Flanigan who were from the same rural county in Western PA, there is no direct indication of inbreeding.
- I am related to President Bush (through Barbara). That's right, George W. Bush is my 8th cousin 2 times removed (Wahoo, party time with the twins!)
- Other famous people I am related to: Gerald Ford, Benjamin Harrison, Judy Garland, Mae West, John Wayne, Walt Disney, Frank Lloyd Wright, Lyndon Johnson, J.P. Morgan, Davy Crockett, Truman Capote, Helen Keller, Walt Whitman, E E Cummings, Joan Crawford, Butch Cassidy, Laurence Olivier, Rudyard Kipling, Mary Jo Frantz - I'm obviously destined for greatness.

Sicko trailer

Michael Moore's new documentary opens June 29th.

Thank goodness for YouTube

If it wasn't for YouTube, we would never be able to see this video of a hen trying to nest on a bunch of kittens. Be sure to turn up your volume, the little meows are adorable!

You've got mail

So one of the Steelers coaches accidentally sent porn to all of the NFL general managers, their secretaries, and the commissioner. That has to be embarrassing.

Thank goodness the Steelers cut that other guy before he was busted for being a pimp.

5.22.2007

More SNL people

After crushing around YouTube for the Andy Samberg movie (see below), I also found a link to the new Will Arnett/Will Forte movie. While I'm not sure if it'll be good or not, it did have Jenna Fischer and Kristen Wiig (also from SNL). Hopefully it'll be good . . .

New Crush

for short), Andy While John Krasinski will always be my #1 Super Favorite Hilarious Future Husband (#1SFHFH) Samberg is working his way up to numero dos (The digital shorts are the best part of SNL). He apparently has a movie coming out this summer and the promotional work for it has started including the video below and the official website (I lloooovveeee how it is so ghetto).

5.21.2007

This is my life

The ironic part is I just watched this clip in my gray cube. At least my building has color coded walls every now and then . . .

5.20.2007

Hasta Luego

Mary Jo is flying off to the bright, sunny country of Spain tonight to start her internship in Barcelona. Only a month and a half till we get to visit!

Happy Sunday!

In honor of my skipping church for the 5th month in a row, feel free to check out these articles that I use in my defense. Thanks Jess for the links.

Tsk, tsk Google

Ironically, Google's new redesign of its homepage (which is really annoying me) violates one of its own design rules. Yes, I am a dork because I find this blog worthy.

5.18.2007

I really hope this is good

Another trailer for Transformers is out and it looks awesome. Not only do the special effects look cool, it has two of my favorite actors in it, Josh "Unbelievably hot" Duhamel and Shia "I watch him on Even Stevens" LeBeouf.

5.14.2007

The Hoff loves puppies too.

When he's not singing with Kit or drunkenly eating hamburgers (I did that Saturday night at Kevin's crazy party), The Hoff is posing with puppies.

Happy Monday!

Top baby names

The most popular baby names from last year are out. Sadly, Heather isn't one of them. However, Addison made a huge jump. Even more fuel for that Grey's spinoff.

5.07.2007

This just made my day

Even movie stars get sweat stains :-) I so feel like Perez.

Shout out to Amy Sedaris, looking barely recognizable.

Healthy Diet Coke?

While I am a HUGE Coke Zero fan, I am slightly interested in this new Diet Coke Plus that has 10 to 15 percent of the daily requirement of niacin, zinc, magnesium and vitamins B6 and B12. Still I wish it had some other things in it too, guess I'll have to stick with regular old vitamins.

Jodie Foster, the French Britney Spears

Apparently Jodie Foster was kind of a pop star in France when she was young. Check out one of her videos. I don't know what is more awesome, the hair, the clothes, or the dazzling special effects.

Pepper had a rough weekend

So the other night Pepper kept chewing on her back left foot and when I looked, there was this weird bump there. Saturday morning we went to the vet and turns out she has ringworm. Apparently it's in the soil and she stepped in it. Even better, she can pass it on to me. Now every time I itch, I get paranoid that I have something . . .

Now she gets a topical cream of the next 4 weeks and I have to watch that her foot doesn't touch my skin, good times.

The vet also mentioned that she's 3 lbs overweight. Time of weight control dog food.

Dachshund overload

A shoutout to Pepper's longhaired relatives.

5.04.2007

The Hoff is just a normal person too

Apparently this is a video of The Hoff that his daughter took to help wake him up about his drinking problem. Good luck The Hoff. (It is really funny though)

5.03.2007

IC in NC

I finally got around to uploading my pictures from last weekend's World Beer Festival in Raleigh. One highlight was running into a booth for good ole Iron City and IC Light. Although after trying all kinds of fruity micro brews, it wasn't exactly the best beer there. Still, it was a pleasant surprise and helped contribute to my overall drunkenness.

5.02.2007

Really NPR?

Apparently PBR love NPR. I was just listening to a concert and PBR sponsored it. I tend to think of PBR having to do more with frat boys than public radio . . .

Draft review

Here's an interesting article on how the Steelers are going to use their recent draft picks. This just feels like such a different team now . . . Little over 4 months till the season starts . . .

Something to do on your lunch break

Next to The Office, one of the funniest things on television is 30 Rock. Unfortunately, it's on opposite Grey's & CSI so I never get to see it. Imagine how excited I was when I saw NBC has the entire season streaming online. My crackers and applesauce has never been so wacky.

5.01.2007

The Downfall of Web 2.0

You know how there are all of these cool web 2.0 sites out there let us interact with each other and junk like that? While MySpace has always been kind of trashy, this is really trashy. People get to vote who can date New York on I Love New York 2. Seriously, why is this woman's 15 minutes not over yet?!?!

4.30.2007

I'd be on this reality show

Since Sanjaya is claiming he is straight (Denial is not just a river in Egypt), imagine if he had his own dating show, Flavor Flav Style

4.26.2007

Freaky real

Have you seen this yet? It's kind of scary how real Elvis looks . . .

Corrupting Children

Hilarious, thank goodness he obviously doesn't know what words and/or what they mean

It's the worst day of the year

Every now and then I have days when I can't stand being at work, but one of the worst the entire year is "Take Your Kids to Work" day.

Everybody brings his/her kids to his/her cube and lets them run free and be loud. Now when you are used to a sterile work environment of white noise, little kids running around can be quite distracting and annoying. I'm already counting down the hours till I can leave . . .

4.25.2007

Something about this disturbs me

I can't quite put my finger on it, but there is something really wrong with this movie . . .

So excited

When the showed the part with Harry & Co flying past Big Ben & Parliament, it gave me chills. July 13th is sooooo far away. Good news is I have that day off to recover from jetlag, so I may have to go to a matinee :-)

How not to expand your medical practice

This doctor in Florida dressed up as Captain America and put a burrito down his pants. Amazingly, those were the least of his problems.

4.24.2007

Go Tartans . . . or not

I've often complained about how CMU doesn't have a real mascot (a plaid, while quite popular with the preppy crown, is not a mascot). I've often even mused that this might be one of the reasons why CMU has absolutely no school spirit, especially when it comes to sporting events.

Turns out the school's administration has also figured this out.

4.23.2007

Nooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apparently there is a rumor going around that my future husband, John Krasinski and Renee Zellweger are dating. While I'm sure it's untrue, I was even more upset to learn that the supposed date went down in Charlotte, a mere 2 1/2 hours from me. We're experiencing the same weather for goodness sake people!

4.19.2007

Bunny chaos

I often worry that I'm going to become the old cat (or miniature dachshund) lady when I grow up. Glad to know that bunnies are also a definite option.

Poor Kate Middleton impersonators

If you think things suck for Kate Middleton right now, try being one of her impersonators. Let's just say job security isn't looking that great.

P.S. I put the picture of both Kate and the impersonators to show that they look NOTHING alike, meaning that they probably weren't raking it in to begin with . . .
