Ok, I really love Gmail

Kristi once asked what was so cool about having a gmail account and Kevin and I explained it's a prestige thing since you have to be invited. Actually it's more than that.

Gmail is just cool and funny. I was just emptying out some spam and noticed that in gmail's info ticker, there are a bunch of recipes for using Spam (the mystery meat). Whenever you're in the trash folder, there are tips about recycling.

I guess when you spend all of your time working a Google, you have to get your creative energy out somehow.

Dachshund abuse

Most of the pictures in my daily dachshund calendar show cute dogs looking at the camera. However, I have recently seen two disturbing images that have me on the brink of calling PETA. In one a dachshund is riding a tricycle. With a dachshund's delicate back, this dog so not be doing such a wild and dangerous stunt.

While outrageous, this is nothing compared to the dachshund drinking the martini. That drink is as big as he is and so the alcohol level is obviously lethal. Plus, he could choke on the olives. These images are too disturbing for me to even show Pepper . . .

Daylight savings time this weekend

FYI, this Sunday is Daylight Savings time. I decided to google to find out when it fell this year and was just a little surprised. Crap, now I'm going to be tired this weekend.

Little more than 5 months . . .

The Post Gazette is reporting that the Steelers will kick off the 2006 NFL season with a game against the Dolphins on September 7th. That's just a little over 5 months away. I don't know if I can wait that long!

On a side note, my toolish mortgage broker told me he thinks that if the Steelers suck this year, Cowher is going to quit and move down here to coach NC State. Whatever.

What a shock . . .

Pumkin from "Flavor of Love" got fired from her substitute teaching job. She should move to NC, we have a real shortgage of teachers here. Maybe she could teach a class on spitting.

Oh Joey . . .

Ok, I'm having too much fun with this site with old tv commercials. I just found one for the New Kids on the Block dolls. We totally had Joey and constantly fought over who's Barbie he would marry. I also had a snazzy neon fanny pack with the NKOTB logo. Sadly, we never had the phone though . . .

She-Ra!

I just found a commercial for She-Ra's Crystal Castle. I totally remember getting this for Christmas one year and what a pain in the ass it was to put together. The elevator never did really work like the commercial. Still, many fond childhood memories associated with this piece of pink and gold plastic.

Don't mess with Texas Cows

Check out this news story out of Dallas. Apparently a truck's gate opened onto the highway, spilling out cows which indirectly led to the burning of 2 police cars and a high speed chase.

Best Movie Title EVER

I just watched the trailer for Snakes on a Plane. What a fine piece of cinematography. Such realistic looking snakes.

According to IMDB, Samuel L. Jackson only signed onto this movie because it was called "Snakes on a Plane" and threatened to quit when producers wanted to change the title. Good one Samuel L . . .

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Erin Go Braugh! I hope everyone remembered to wear green today. One of the cafeteria lady's stared at my shirt for a while thinking and then told me happy St. Patrick's Day. This is also the same lady who asks about my friend Mike instead of my friend Matt.

This is the day of the year when I like to remember my Irish heritage. Both of my parents had Flanigans for close relatives living within 20 miles of each other, so it's also the day of the year I like to celebrate my chances of being inbred. I realize this explains a lot.

The Shining: perfect date movie

So the latest trend to hit the internet is taking old movies and cutting them into new previews that in no way resemble the original blockbuster. Two of the best are the romantic comedies Must Love Jaws and Shining.

It's actually kind of sad how easy it is to make something look totally different from what it really is. Now I know why I wasted my money on "Dick & Jane."

End of an era?!?!

Everybody's favorite spotlight-hogging, talentless tramp was not allowed into the Vanity Fair post-Oscar bash.

Nicole Richie is laughing what is left of her ass off because she was deemed important enough.

On a side note, gluing peacock feathers to the bottom of your dress screams class.

First camera phone picture!

My camera phone finally arrived yesterday and I wasted no time taking pictures. I need to work on my technique a little.

Apparently Pepper has never seen a camera phone as she has one of those "What the hell is the human doing?" looks on her face. She's also sporting very attractive flipped back ears, all the rage in Milan this spring.

Today is the start of a new era

Today, my camera phone arrives (hopefully). Now when I see something that strikes me as funny (such as the picture of a dachshund riding a tricycle from my dachshund-a-day calendar), I can share it with the world!

Take that suckas

So I was checking out U.S. News & World Report's college rankings and looked up CMU. When I applied to college, there were two I didn't get into, UVA & Georgetown. Notice what 2 schools are now ranked lower than CMU, hehe.

UPenn is #4 so Kristi can claim superiority though . . .
