The time has come . . .

Now that the Steelers are out of playoff contention, I've got to decide which AFC North team to cheer for instead, Baltimore or Cincinnati. I think I'm going to go with the Bengals because I've respected them the past couple of years and the don't have any felons on their time like Baltimore.

Plus, Carson Palmer is really hot.

Go Bengals!!! (Until the Superbowl, then I'm all about the Steelers again)

SHEETZ!!!!!!!!!!!

So last night as I was driving home from work, what should I see at the corner of T. W. Alexander and Miami, but a sign saying that a Sheetz was coming soon!!!!!!! Sheetz, yes!!!!!! Look how close it is to work, like 1.5 miles.

Christmas has come early this year!

Let the speculation start

NC State fired their football coach this past weekend and this seems like very convenient timing considering that Cowher hasn't renewed his contract.

For those of you out of the Triangle loop - Cowher went to NC State, has a house in Raleigh, and his daughter goes to high school down here, so the biggest rumor to be circulating since the Super Bowl is that Cowher is going to come down and coach State after this dismal Steelers season.

Seriously though, would he really want to end his NFL career on such a sour note?

(Yes, I know what an awesome photoshop job that is)

Someday I want to be your wide receiver

It's well known that in the Manning vs. Brady fight, I side with Manning (Although Roethlisberger is still tops for the time being . . .). However the guy who created this video clearly sides with Tom Brady. I do have one question though, with all of the photo shoots this guy has, when does he have time to practice.

Random Google Image Search Fun

So just now when I was looking for an image to put alongside my Somerset blog entry, I found something very random.

I google image searched (yes, I created a new verb) "Somerset PA" and found all kinds of weird things related to Somerset, but the oddest had to be the picture of my elementary school best friend's father holding up a dead cat of some sort. I guess I shouldn't be surprised he was holding up the cat, after all this is the family that had a dead bear mounted to their wall along with several pairs of antlers.

Meanwhile, checkout the requisite Somerset County camouflage coat. Hot.

Good times in Somerset, PA

So I went home for Thanksgiving last Tuesday and arrived back in the Triangle last night. A couple of highlights for you stalkers (a lot of this may only interest Kristi and Webreck) -

Wednesday - Looked at countertops with my mom, Duane Jones' mom waited on us at lunch at the Italian Oven, Shopped at Giant Eagle (the only grocery store chain in Western PA) and avoided being seen by anyone, Dinner at the Eagles (Fraternal Order of Eagles to you mister)

Wednesday night - Annie, Mary Jo, and I went out to Maggie Mae's with a couple of MJ's friends who just turned 21. Saw some people from high school who looked the same/worse. Saw a pregnant Jessica Stoy at the same smoke-filled bar (Nothing spells classiness like being pregnant out of wedlock and showing up at a bar). Bought MJ a vodka and cranberry and myself a Corona for a grand total of $5.50. Went home after an hour.

Thursday - Worked the Salvation Army Thanksgiving lunch with my family. (Unfortunately, my mom did not agree with Kristi's point of view that people who can afford to give money should give money and those who cannot afford to give money should work the dinner . . . ) Thanksgiving meal at my great Aunt's where my cousin continuously coughed on all of the food, but her mother said it was ok because it was only asthma. Also found out that no one on that side of the family is going to be married anytime soon, wahoo!

Friday - Lunch with my dad's side of the family. Looks like no weddings on this side for the next couple of years either, the pressure is off - for the moment.

Friday night - James Bond with Dad - awesome movie

Saturday - Shopping in Shadyside. Annie lives right next door to my favorite bar in college, I'm jealous.

Sunday - Sit in the Pgh airport listening to the awful Steelers game before takeoff. Arrive home to Pepper who is incredibly happy to see me.

I am pretty sure this is fake . . .

But it was certainly woke me up with laughter from my holiday weekend hangover. (Source)

Crazy hamsters

These hamsters have a death wish.

11.17.2006

Today is a very special day

Happy Birthday Pepper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you see Pepper today, wish her a very happy 21st birthday, but do so quietly. She went out last night to celebrate and isn't feeling so hot today.

It's hard enough understanding her on the phone normally, so just imagine what it was like when she called drunkenly at 2 am for a ride home . . .

If only I was cool enough

I just found this website with cool vintagey tees including a lovely one about NC. Now if only I wasn't such a prep.

How Not to Rob a Liquor Store

Number 1 rule for robbing a liquor store: Don't be drunk when you attempt to do it.

Lazy Scranton

While I'm counting down the hours till tonight's supersized episode of "The Office" this small clip already has me even more excited. It's not too spoilerish if you ever want to go back and watch all of the episodes (Why aren't you watching The Office now anyway?!?!).

In it, Michael and Dwight do a rip-off of the now famous SNL skit "Lazy Sunday."

It's almost the weekend

This picture summarizes how I feel about getting up to go to the gym every morning. Best part is the other hamster looking at him like, "What the hell are you doing?"

Seriously, get Cute Overload's RSS.

Stalker Alert

George Clooney is going to be within 70 miles of me. While he's a little too old for my taste, he's still very pretty to look at . . . And Renee Zellweger's coming too, maybe she'll eat some BBQ.

11.15.2006

OK, one more Borat post

Borat on Leno with Martha Stewart - enjoy.

On the Top of Celebrities I'd like to Marry List

On the top of my like marry/stalk list is totally John Krasinki. *Sigh*

Happy Belated World Usability Day!!!

Yesterday was World Usability Day, but I was in class so I missed all of the fun.

Remember do a good job keeping things usable, but not too usable so that I still have a job

Happy Sweet 16 Internet!

The Internet turned 16 yesterday, almost as major as Pepper turning 21 on Friday. BWE has the transcript from the Internet's Super Sweet 16 party.

11.13.2006

I saw Borat!

The Kristies, Kevin, and I went to see Borat yesterday afternoon, my life goals have been achieved.

11.10.2006

More Borat

Kevin sent me this link that has a ton of Borat sound clips from Da Ali G Show. I really need to see the movie this weekend!!!

I'm such a nerd

I don't know if any of you fellow gmail users have noticed, but in the past day or so, gmail has made some subtle changes to its UI. The minute I saw the changes, I was like does this make gmail easier to use? Did they do usability tests to decide this? Do I like the icons? That's not the same pale blue they use other places.

I've only be in the job force for 2 3/4 years, just wait till I finally retire. I'll have to move to a desert island with no GUI's so I don't go insane.

SPIDERMAN 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Next summer is sooooooooo far away. Not enough Topher Grace in this trailer for me though.

11.09.2006

Quick, run to Walmart

Walmart's Black Friday 5-11 AM specials have been posted. Nothing really excites me enough to run to the Super Walmart in Somerset on that Friday first thing in the morning . . .

11.08.2006

The Office + JT = Best Music Video Ever

Besides Borat, another obsession of mine is The Office. This great mashup sets Office clips to Sexy/Back. Sheer perfection. (PS Matt, this has some spoiler clips from this season, so you may not want to watch . . .)

Will Ferrell takes on Phantom

I think we've just found another Broadway star!

11.03.2006

2 weeks till she's legal!

FYI 2 weeks till Pepper turns 3 (aka 21 in dog years). Get ready for a wild party.

Farewell Old Friend

With Bob Barker announcing yesterday that he'll retire this summer, I'd like to take a moment to remember his greatest accomplishment. No, not giving away cars to college students or sexually harassing his "Beauties" or beating up Happy Gilmore.

I'm talking about his love of cats and dogs and controlling their population so that they don't take over the world.
