Sigh

The Office may not have won anything last night, but at least Pam and Jim looked good.

My newest obsession

The trailer for the new Will Ferrell movie is out and it has Jon Heder, Amy Poehler, Will Arnett, and Pam (aka Jenna Fischer) . I'm pysched. It opens March 30th.

Laser Cats 2!

In case you didn't Tivo SNL this weekend like me - Laser Cats 2
FYI, SNL isn't too bad this year.

1.12.2007

Google hearts Somerset

I was just perusing the RSS feeds on my Google homepage and what should I see under the Google News Steelers section? A shoutout the the Daily American, Somerset's best (and only) newspaper!

Freaky weather?

Or bug in their code? Notice anything odd about the weather forecast for Raleigh on Saturday?

1.10.2007

My heart has been broken

Carson Palmer is married. *sniff* *sniff*

Turns out a lot of quarterbacks are married, Big Ben may be the only single one left . . .

1.08.2007

Douchebag Alert

So say you're a guy on match.com and one week you ask a girl for her screename and she gives it to you (because she's trying to be less picky). Then say a week later you ask the same girl for her screename, never acknowledging that you previously had communicated.

Chances are you're a big player who can't keep his online women straight.

Oh, and you wear those slightly tinted sunglasses that really don't keep out the sun but look supercool.

Sounds like someone isn't getting a reply to his email . . .

Move this one to the top of the queue

So I think this may be real . . .

Be glad you're not a duck

OK, so this video is adorable and all, but seriously, they are jumping out of trees. Not small little trees, like big trees that I wouldn't even jump out of. How do they not get hurt?!?!

1.05.2007

Goodbye old friend

I just realized that Bill Cowher has coached the Steelers for over half my life, 60% of my life to be exact. Wonder who they'll hire now. Here's a good article highlights his career and analyzing possible replacements.

1.03.2007

What better way to proclaim your love

Now I remember why I stopped at a belly button piercing in college. Check out some inspired tattoo work.

1.02.2007

Pepper's on YouTube!

When I was home, I uploaded an old video of Pepper trying to escape from a paper bag. Note, she did this to herself by putting her head through the handle, I just taped it for a bit . . .

12.29.2006

What a great Christmas

I got to eat not once, but twice at the 6th largest Eagles' in the country!

Now while eating at the 5th largest twice might be more exciting, I'm a simple girl and so am pleased with 6th.

12.27.2006

Thanks for the memories

Well, the Steelers' season is pretty much over and of course the game I got to go to was a blowout.

12.20.2006

Now I may be getting a little giddy

Because I'm driving up North in a couple of hours, but I immensely enjoy this website. Simple concept, but so cute.

Unfortunately, I can't get Pepper to even step into the shower, nonetheless a sink (of course, she also is not a cat).

12.19.2006

Happy Holidays

Hope you all have a great Christmas and a fantastic New Year!

12.18.2006

Shiloh vs a baby panda

Ah CNN, such a cutting edge news source. Can you imagine the brainstorming session that came up with this story? (I do love Jeanne Moos though!)

12.15.2006

Under Construction

I'm slightly behind the curve and so just realized all of the cool new stuff you can do with Blogger Beta. Unfortunately, I can't implement it all now because I have a job and need to earn my paycheck.

I've found the best diet ever

Today when I got on the scale, I'd lost 4 pounds in one day! How did I do it you ask? Simple I gave blood. Now I realize that my body is going to replace this blood, but at least I'll have a skinny day today.

Cuteness for the day

While Pepper is at the groomer's being tortured, enjoy this bit of cuteness. (Source)

12.13.2006

I want this dog!

Don't tell Pepper.

12.12.2006

Now Admit to Yourself the Season is Over . . .

Why are news agencies still writing stories that the Steelers could make the playoffs?!?! Scratch this one off and start thinking about the draft folks.

P.S. NC State hired a new coach, so Cowher's not going there next season.

Oh Carson

As I previously decided, I'm going to cheer for the Bengals in the playoffs because Carson Palmer is hot.

Now his Christmas wish list comes to light. A K-Fed CD? Oh my! However, is that canceled out by wanting Flavor of Love Season 1? Still better than the Ravens . . .

12.11.2006

Ho Ho Ho

Brangelina in Western PA

My mom pointed out to me that Brangelina were less than 25 miles away from Somerset on Friday. I always need that Falling Water had to be good for something . . .

Oh China

You can tell from this clip that China is well on it's way to world domination. Those poor girls' necks had to have hurt the next day . . .

12.08.2006

Why did I ever leave?

So I was just checking out the online edition of Somerset's fine newspaper, The Daily American, to see who got engaged or married and noticed a new section. The paper now has a photo gallery of Buck kills (that's pictures of people and the dead male deer they shot). There's also a lovely Bear kills section as well. Charming.

PS On a side note, this brings up the high school memory of the time I opened the paper and saw a picture of my current boyfriend holding up a dead deer (I still have the newspaper clipping if you ever want to see it). The thing was, I had no idea he hunted and he didn't mention that he was going hunting, but there he was with his 5 point (that's really good) buck. This was by no means the oddest thing to happen while we were dating. And now he's married.

PPS If you're looking at the Daily American's home page and it's Friday, you'll notice they managed to find the only black guy in the county and put him on the front page, balancing out the photo galleries of dead animals.

12.07.2006

Trapped in the "Claus"et

As if R. Kelly's trapped in the closet wasn't good enough, someone has made a claymation Santa parody. Brilliant. Check out the other chapters.

My subconscious must trying to tell me something

I just remembered that last night I dreamt about going speed dating again.

Damn depressing holiday season. (That was a joke Mother, I'm really not depressed, I'm fine, just trying to be humorous. I know how you worry.) (And I'm sorry I cursed, once again it was in a humorous vein, I never swear.)

Extreme Home Makeover: Raleigh

Extreme Home Makeover came to Raleigh the other week and The News & Observer has a cool time lapse video of the result.

Flavor Flav, the actor

Check out this slightly old promo for one of those MTV awards shows that never aired. I heart Topher Grace.

Say it with Buildings

Google Maps + the alphabet = Genius

TMI

Now we all know, I love cute animals, but this special from National Geographic is taking things a little too far.

FYI, as you can see from this picture, puppies are not always cute . . .

12.06.2006

Yes, lunch and movie

FYI, my week has been made this week once again this year by having management announce that my team is going out for lunch and movie next week to celebrate the holiday. Too bad Matt can't come anymore . . .

New York is Back . . .

Check out this preview video from VH1 about New York's (from Flavor of Love) new dating show. I don't know if I'm going to watch it or not, but it could be a train wreck of fun.

Attention all drunk, unemployed actors

Check out this gallery of screaming children sitting on Santa's hungover lap. We always had to sit on the Easter Bunny's lap too . . .

12.05.2006

Something for everyone

You know the SkyMall catalog always waiting for you when you board your plane? Well some made a parody of it. Hilarious.

12.01.2006

Carson Palmer may be hot . . .

but Big Ben has a heart of gold. Thanks Kevin!

11.30.2006

The time has come . . .

Now that the Steelers are out of playoff contention, I've got to decide which AFC North team to cheer for instead, Baltimore or Cincinnati. I think I'm going to go with the Bengals because I've respected them the past couple of years and the don't have any felons on their time like Baltimore.

Plus, Carson Palmer is really hot.

Go Bengals!!! (Until the Superbowl, then I'm all about the Steelers again)

11.28.2006

SHEETZ!!!!!!!!!!!

So last night as I was driving home from work, what should I see at the corner of T. W. Alexander and Miami, but a sign saying that a Sheetz was coming soon!!!!!!! Sheetz, yes!!!!!! Look how close it is to work, like 1.5 miles.

Christmas has come early this year!

Let the speculation start

NC State fired their football coach this past weekend and this seems like very convenient timing considering that Cowher hasn't renewed his contract.

For those of you out of the Triangle loop - Cowher went to NC State, has a house in Raleigh, and his daughter goes to high school down here, so the biggest rumor to be circulating since the Super Bowl is that Cowher is going to come down and coach State after this dismal Steelers season.

Seriously though, would he really want to end his NFL career on such a sour note?

(Yes, I know what an awesome photoshop job that is)

11.27.2006

Someday I want to be your wide receiver

It's well known that in the Manning vs. Brady fight, I side with Manning (Although Roethlisberger is still tops for the time being . . .). However the guy who created this video clearly sides with Tom Brady. I do have one question though, with all of the photo shoots this guy has, when does he have time to practice.

Random Google Image Search Fun

So just now when I was looking for an image to put alongside my Somerset blog entry, I found something very random.

I google image searched (yes, I created a new verb) "Somerset PA" and found all kinds of weird things related to Somerset, but the oddest had to be the picture of my elementary school best friend's father holding up a dead cat of some sort. I guess I shouldn't be surprised he was holding up the cat, after all this is the family that had a dead bear mounted to their wall along with several pairs of antlers.

Meanwhile, checkout the requisite Somerset County camouflage coat. Hot.

Good times in Somerset, PA

So I went home for Thanksgiving last Tuesday and arrived back in the Triangle last night. A couple of highlights for you stalkers (a lot of this may only interest Kristi and Webreck) -

Wednesday - Looked at countertops with my mom, Duane Jones' mom waited on us at lunch at the Italian Oven, Shopped at Giant Eagle (the only grocery store chain in Western PA) and avoided being seen by anyone, Dinner at the Eagles (Fraternal Order of Eagles to you mister)

Wednesday night - Annie, Mary Jo, and I went out to Maggie Mae's with a couple of MJ's friends who just turned 21. Saw some people from high school who looked the same/worse. Saw a pregnant Jessica Stoy at the same smoke-filled bar (Nothing spells classiness like being pregnant out of wedlock and showing up at a bar). Bought MJ a vodka and cranberry and myself a Corona for a grand total of $5.50. Went home after an hour.

Thursday - Worked the Salvation Army Thanksgiving lunch with my family. (Unfortunately, my mom did not agree with Kristi's point of view that people who can afford to give money should give money and those who cannot afford to give money should work the dinner . . . ) Thanksgiving meal at my great Aunt's where my cousin continuously coughed on all of the food, but her mother said it was ok because it was only asthma. Also found out that no one on that side of the family is going to be married anytime soon, wahoo!

Friday - Lunch with my dad's side of the family. Looks like no weddings on this side for the next couple of years either, the pressure is off - for the moment.

Friday night - James Bond with Dad - awesome movie

Saturday - Shopping in Shadyside. Annie lives right next door to my favorite bar in college, I'm jealous.

Sunday - Sit in the Pgh airport listening to the awful Steelers game before takeoff. Arrive home to Pepper who is incredibly happy to see me.

I am pretty sure this is fake . . .

But it was certainly woke me up with laughter from my holiday weekend hangover. (Source)

Crazy hamsters

These hamsters have a death wish.

11.17.2006

Today is a very special day

Happy Birthday Pepper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you see Pepper today, wish her a very happy 21st birthday, but do so quietly. She went out last night to celebrate and isn't feeling so hot today.

It's hard enough understanding her on the phone normally, so just imagine what it was like when she called drunkenly at 2 am for a ride home . . .

If only I was cool enough

I just found this website with cool vintagey tees including a lovely one about NC. Now if only I wasn't such a prep.

How Not to Rob a Liquor Store

Number 1 rule for robbing a liquor store: Don't be drunk when you attempt to do it.

Lazy Scranton

While I'm counting down the hours till tonight's supersized episode of "The Office" this small clip already has me even more excited. It's not too spoilerish if you ever want to go back and watch all of the episodes (Why aren't you watching The Office now anyway?!?!).

In it, Michael and Dwight do a rip-off of the now famous SNL skit "Lazy Sunday."

It's almost the weekend

This picture summarizes how I feel about getting up to go to the gym every morning. Best part is the other hamster looking at him like, "What the hell are you doing?"

Seriously, get Cute Overload's RSS.

Stalker Alert

George Clooney is going to be within 70 miles of me. While he's a little too old for my taste, he's still very pretty to look at . . . And Renee Zellweger's coming too, maybe she'll eat some BBQ.

11.15.2006

OK, one more Borat post

Borat on Leno with Martha Stewart - enjoy.

On the Top of Celebrities I'd like to Marry List

On the top of my like marry/stalk list is totally John Krasinki. *Sigh*

Happy Belated World Usability Day!!!

Yesterday was World Usability Day, but I was in class so I missed all of the fun.

Remember do a good job keeping things usable, but not too usable so that I still have a job

Happy Sweet 16 Internet!

The Internet turned 16 yesterday, almost as major as Pepper turning 21 on Friday. BWE has the transcript from the Internet's Super Sweet 16 party.

11.13.2006

I saw Borat!

The Kristies, Kevin, and I went to see Borat yesterday afternoon, my life goals have been achieved.

11.10.2006

More Borat

Kevin sent me this link that has a ton of Borat sound clips from Da Ali G Show. I really need to see the movie this weekend!!!

I'm such a nerd

I don't know if any of you fellow gmail users have noticed, but in the past day or so, gmail has made some subtle changes to its UI. The minute I saw the changes, I was like does this make gmail easier to use? Did they do usability tests to decide this? Do I like the icons? That's not the same pale blue they use other places.

I've only be in the job force for 2 3/4 years, just wait till I finally retire. I'll have to move to a desert island with no GUI's so I don't go insane.

SPIDERMAN 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Next summer is sooooooooo far away. Not enough Topher Grace in this trailer for me though.

11.09.2006

Quick, run to Walmart

Walmart's Black Friday 5-11 AM specials have been posted. Nothing really excites me enough to run to the Super Walmart in Somerset on that Friday first thing in the morning . . .

11.08.2006

The Office + JT = Best Music Video Ever

Besides Borat, another obsession of mine is The Office. This great mashup sets Office clips to Sexy/Back. Sheer perfection. (PS Matt, this has some spoiler clips from this season, so you may not want to watch . . .)

Will Ferrell takes on Phantom

I think we've just found another Broadway star!

11.03.2006

2 weeks till she's legal!

FYI 2 weeks till Pepper turns 3 (aka 21 in dog years). Get ready for a wild party.

11.01.2006

Farewell Old Friend

With Bob Barker announcing yesterday that he'll retire this summer, I'd like to take a moment to remember his greatest accomplishment. No, not giving away cars to college students or sexually harassing his "Beauties" or beating up Happy Gilmore.

I'm talking about his love of cats and dogs and controlling their population so that they don't take over the world.

10.31.2006

Sacha Baron Cohen is a genius

T-3 days till Borat hits the theaters, yipee!!! One of the things that makes SBC great is how on the spot funny he is, check out this appearance on Letterman last night.

Interesting thoughts

Here is an interesting column on the Steelers recent disappointing season and how if a couple of plays had gone the other way last season, we could have been in the same spot we're in now or vice versa . . .

Happy Halloween!!!

Have a great Halloween at work today! Thanksgiving is only 3 weeks away!

Yet so hilarious . . .

10.26.2006

Dachshunds in Banana Suits!

Ok, so Pepper may be a moose for Halloween, but how cute are these dachshunds? How did I ever live before Cute Overload?

If only this was in NC

I wish I could visit the Girls' Costume Warehouse.

10.25.2006

More Borat

The new Borat movie is almost a week away and to satisfied my obsession, EW has posted a hilarious interview with him.

Guns don't kill people. Chuck Norris kills people.

Apparently I've been living underneath an Internet rock or something, because I'm just now finding out about "Chuck Norris Facts," a list of facts about how awesome Chuck Norris is, because he is awesome, watching one episode of Walker Texas Ranger tells you that.

Listen to Flavor Flav

Flavor of Love may almost be a thing of the past, but Flav apparently has a new album out and VH1 is being kind enough to stream it. Unfortunately, I'm busy in the usability lab and so can't listen to it, but I'm sure it's profound.

The Leader of Our Country

Glad to see he's up to date with "The Google"

Worst Halloween Costumes of All Time

Check out this site that lists the worst Halloween costumes of all time. My $2.50 Target cat ears and tail is so going to rock this year.

10.18.2006

Deleted Scenes from Borat

As I anxiously await the funniest movie of the year, Borat's Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, I'm happy to tide myself over with these deleted scenes. If the deleted scenes are this funny, just imagine how good the stuff that made it into the movie is.

Hotlanta roadtrip?

Justin Timberlake isn't coming to NC, but he is hitting up Atlanta in February. Pink is also touring with him. Roadtrip anyone?

10.17.2006

New Look!

I've changed the CSS for the blog again!

10.16.2006

Best email address ever

I was just in a conference call and saw this email address. How lucky is this guy? hfrantz@us.ibm.com pales in comparison . . .

In my father's dreams

Does walking into Harris Teeter give you chills? Ever think to yourself that getting married next to toilet paper is romantic? If so, then you should get married in a grocery store too. Thanks again CNN for such hard-hitting journalism!

Speed dating: Part Quattro

So Jen and I went speed dating again Friday night. We're sitting at the bar waiting for the event to start and Jen is talking to this guy and tells him how I'm a speed dating regular. Funny enough until the speed dating guy comes up to ask our names and recognizes me. Like he knows my name and hands me my name tag without having to ask. My fear of ending up alone has paid his electric bill for the month since I've been there so many times.

Overall, the event was kind of disappointing. Only 10 guys out of 15 showed up, so there were a lot more girls than guys. Jen and I weren't really excited about anyone we talked to, but we did talk to some unique individuals again.

The most unique was a German Computer Science teacher at NC State (Matt totally had him for class). At first you'd think he could be good - he's foreign, smart, and has the potential to make good money. Of course this is not taking into account that he had a unibrow, very high pants, and spoke about 1,000 accented words a minute. I'm pretty sure there were multiple times I answered questions wrong, but I don't think he minded too much since most of his focus was on my boobs.

There was also a lovely gentleman who talked about how he had met some people from IBM that morning as he was waiting in line for the new Nintendo. Unfortunately, he didn't get one and has to wait till the 19th. His willingness to wait in line instead of going to work shows that while he may not have the best work ethic, he would be a valuable asset if I ever needed tickets to a Duke basketball game.

In pure six degrees of separation style, I did meet someone who works with the father of my neighbors growing up. Small world. He was kind of slimy, although this didn't stop me from putting him down as a match (I said the selection wasn't that great) and of course we matched. I don't know if I'll go out with him or not.

At the end of the day, I put down four people and matched with 2 of them which is about par for the course. The one guy has already emailed me. His name is Greg and he is a lawyer which is freaky because my father's name is Greg and he is a lawyer.

The good news is that there is another event in November as the speed dating guy kindly reminded me in his email before he even gave me my matches. My name is Heather and I'm a speed dating addict.

10.13.2006

Happy Friday the 13th

How do you make Friday the 13th even scarier? By having it in October! Good thing I'm going speed dating tonight, I'm sure the freaks will be out . . .

10.12.2006

Our cat drinks out of the toilet

Geez, Spike only drinks out of the toilet and falls in every now and then . . .

Happy Anniversary

I missed the one year anniversary of my first blog post on Saturday. I'm sure Blogger didn't mind.

10.06.2006

Screw you Sienna

Sienna Miller is bashing Pittsburgh. Real smart coming from someone who is still dating a cheating Jude Law and dresses like this.

10.05.2006

3 years too late

Man, why didn't they have this when I was still in school? TriDelt totally would have done this as a fundraiser! Be sure to watch the video too.

On a side note, when I google-imaged "jello", a surprising number of hits had to do with wrestling or alcohol . . .

New blogger

So I just converted over to the new Beta version of Blogger. When I get a chance, I'm going to update my CSS too since I've had the polka dots for a while . . . Check out how I can tag now!

Slutty McSlutterson

So in preparation for the next great speed dating event, I've already started to plan what I'm going to wear and this brings up a boy question for me.

If I wear a top that highlights The Twins, are the speed dating guys going to look at me and think "possible hot girlfriend" or "possible hot hookup"? Faithful male readers (Kevin, Samir), any deep insights?

Shout out to Eleni for protecting my dignity in this pic.

4th time's a charm

My new friend Jen and I are going speed dating next Friday. I'm taking the fact that it is Friday the 13th in October as an excellent sign. As always, I'll be sure to post a thought provoking and non-judgmental recap.

Yay October!

I'm so stoked it's my favorite month, October. Halloween is my favorite holiday and I put out all of my decorations first thing yesterday morning.

I've already started thinking about my costume this year because in the words of Lindsay Lohan in Mean Girls, "Halloween is the one night a year when girls can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it." Ah, Halloween.
